KitAid Monthly Update – February 2026
Hi all,
February 2026 proved to be a milestone month as we donated the 1,250,000 th item of kit to a project in Kenya. It was also another busy month as there were 21 individual kit handovers and the latest totals are as follows:
Total items of kit donated in February – 12,513
Total items of kit donated so far in 2026 – 22,051
Total items of kit donated since 1998 – 1,254,078
We will be celebrating the milestone over the next few weeks and the special banners have already been out and about across different supporter groups. Pictures will be posted regularly on all of our social media sites so please keep a look out for them. Ideally we would like to get photos with clubs, individuals and companies who have supported our work and so far banners have been sent to Richie in Liverpool, Peter in Manchester and Dougie in Scotland. There are still six left so if you are able to get a number of photos from your area please let me know.
Special badges have also been ordered and they should soon arrive. I will post details on the group WhatsApp and work out a way of getting them to everyone, which may involve bubble wrap and SAE’s unless I see you first!
KitAid Grants
Despite our limited income we are proud of our support to projects which are close to our heart. So far in 2026 we have issued grants to the following projects
£1,000 to Ballysillan YFC for the Football Camp in North Belfast.
£1,000 to Laughter Africa for sports equipment for their street children project in Freetown, Sierra Leone.
Last year we made four grants totalling £4,000 to the Bulindi Chimpanzee protection project in Uganda, the Harry Mnisi Sports Day project in South Africa, the Ballysillan YFC football camp in North Belfast and the FOMO Malawi football/netball bonanza.
Non League Football
We have always had a close bond with non league football and we receive kit from many clubs across the football pyramid.
We were proud to sponsor the recent Leverstock Green FC match and it was great to see a much needed victory over high flying Hitchin Town FC, who also support our work. The new 1.25 Million banner was also launched at the match.
We have just heard that Step 3 Club, Berkhamsted FC have chosen KitAid as their charity of the month for March. Another great community Club who are long term supporters.
Smiley Charity Film Awards
As you will have seen, we have been selected as a Finalist in our category and we are through to the next round of voting.
This year the organisers have added in another round of public voting rather than the judges choosing their top three straight away. We don’t really feel it is appropriate to ask everyone to vote again so we will wait now to see if everyone else feels the same and we all go to the next round!!
Thanks to Ben for his work in getting us selected and also for all of the great Film Friday’s he produces.
Positive End Note
“In our community these are not just pieces of equipment – they are symbols of HOPE.
For many of our children this is the first time they have ever owned a proper shirt or played with a high quality ball.
You have given them the confidence to pursue their talents with pride.”
Vellah Gesare
A slightly shorter monthly update than usual but definitely one to be proud of in terms of passing our fifth major milestone in 28 years.
Thanks everyone for your support in helping little KitAid to bring joy, hope and smiles to so many.
Have a great March.
Derrick
